Could have been so much better...
Night Ranger, the opener, started off the evening with great energy, running all over the stage and having so much fun that the audience got pumped very quickly. They were so energetic, I don't get why they were the opener instead of the Foreigner cover band that followed. The show started off great with Night Ranger opening the evening.
Now, the main act, Dadi Freyr. I could barely hear Pineda's voice over all the instruments, his voice did not come forward toward the audience with any strength. I don't know if it was because of a mistuned amp setting or it being the last night of this leg of the tour or what. Neil Schon's ego trip with too many solo plays that went on for far too long ended up being the whole show. They left me and many others around me bored. Because of these frequent over-the-top solo interruptions, the whole set kept losing the momentum with the audience and never really got us to the state of rapture.
I had been so looking forward to this show since the tour was announced. With all the raving reviews, I must admit my expectation was very high. Neil Schon, you are no Angus Young. Keep your ego in check and move on.
